Valentine's Breakfast In Bed

This Valentine's I'm all about keeping it simple and low key.  I've never been a huge Valentine's person. Don't get me wrong, a holiday that's all about glitter, hearts, pink and love (and let's be honest, chocolate!) is right up my alley, but I don't love the idea that we need to buy/expect chocolate and roses one day a year and there's an obligatory date night.

I'd like to think that the spirit of Valentine's should be carried around year long, and rather than buying expensive gifts, I'd rather spend quality time with my loved one.  It seems like life gets so busy so this year on Valentine's Day, James and I will be focussing on spending time together.

I love the idea of surprising your Valentine with a romantic breakfast in bed on Valentine's Day. And seeing as this year it falls on a Saturday, it couldn't be more perfect!  A few (PINK!) heart shaped pancakes, some chocolate covered strawberries, heart shaped cookies and relaxing morning spent together sounds pretty much perfect to me!

For a few ideas to plan your own Valentine's breakfast in bed why not grab a tray, load it up with coffee and a few treats. I made red, pink and white chocolate covered strawberries, pink heart shaped pancakes and threw in a few little cookies we had left from HERE, just in case the breakfast wasn't sweet enough!

These little "You Strike My Fancy" matches were just too cute to pass up! The coasters I used are from THIS DIY and the candle (which smells like a yummy tropical vacation in a jar) is from the guys who made my concrete coffee mug paperweight

For extra decor oomph, hang a few balloons from the ceiling for a fun touch.  I love how cute they are above our headboard and it's a simple added element that takes only a few minutes to hang and they look pretty awesome if you ask me!

Naturally, Herman wanted in on the breakfast in bed and we were more than happy to bring him up so he could investigate what was going on too!

PS, How cute is this pink sequin elbow patch top? Jess from Obviously Chic carries the cutest pieces and as soon as I saw this cozy cute top, I knew it had the perfect sparkle that could take me from lounging at home, to rockin' it with my boyfriend jeans and heels!

So there you go, a few fun ideas in case you want to throw a little Valentine's breakfast in bed for your sweetie this coming weekend. Or, maybe you can take these ideas and have a Gal-entine's brunch with your besties!
