204 Park Design Project: Bella Casa Spa Expansion

Hello friends and happy friday!  Today I want to share a bit of a peek at a project I've been working at with my dear friend Jen from Bella Casa Day Spa & The Brick

If you've been following 204 Park for awhile now, chances are you know of my love for Jen at Bella Casa Day Spa. She's the one responsible for my perfectly micro bladed brows, she keeps my nails looking fly and she's a one woman glam squad- basically, she's unstoppable. And, with the success of her home based spa business Bella Casa, she's expanding!

Jen reached out to me a few months ago looking for some help with expanding her spa from the one room it's currently in, to taking over her full basement. As business has grown, so has the need for more space and a bit of a refresh and I was excited to take on a project for someone like Jen who I love!

Years ago in her old space, Jen's spa was a bit more feminine and layered but in her new space the goal for the spa is more modern and minimalist than before. Her one room spa houses her microblading table,  her nail desk and a small chair and fireplace area. In the new expansion we'll be bringing in a desk for Jen to work at and take payments/book appointments, a new more spacious nail desk area allowing more room for pedicures and facials in the other room, a waiting area and more retail space for her beauty and health products she carries.

Turning her old at home gym space into her spa has been such a fun project! We started with buttery walls and beige carpets which were the first to go, replaced with durable vinyl flooring and a fresh coat of white paint to make the basement space feel fresh and open!

home spa design plan - before

Once the basics were complete, it came time to think of furnishing the spa which is where The Brick comes into play! The Brick has some really great modern pieces in the more contemporary feel that Jen was looking for in her spa so I knew it would be a great fit. Also, while we're definitely gaining space by expanding the spa into another room, we still have to be space conscious and the smaller scale of the pieces we chose from The Brick work perfectly in this room!

You can see above we've taped out a few of the pieces and changes that are still to come. We have an electrician coming to put in a modern fireplace and replace the track lighting for brighter pot lighting. Also, one of the elements of the new plan is already in place - Jen's desk that her husband and brother built in a modern wood finish!

So, the major pieces we needed to find solutions for in this space were:

-Nail desk

-Retail Display

-Storage

-Seating Area

With some help from The Brick, we've been able to find everything we need to finish Jen's modern spa expansion!

DETAILS:  North Avenue tall bookcase for retail display //  Oryx mirror for above reception desk // Bexley swivel chair for the nail desk // There will be lots of greenery in this space for texture and color! // Glass shade floor lamp for a cozy feel and ambient light // Modern Gas fireplace will be going in for decor and coziness! // Bexley filing cabinet for practical storage // Eslov desk for a simple and minimal nail desk set up // Small North Avenue bookcase for additional retail display // 32" television for portfolio and informative displays // The inspiration for the reception desk // Modern chair for sitting area // Cozy rug for sitting area // Modern side table for sitting area

So, what do we have planned?

The nail desk area is the perfect size for the Eslov desk (we're opting for white but it comes in two other great finishes too!) paired with my favourite, the Bexley swivel chair. For storing her mani tools and necessities, the Bexley filing cabinet is just what we need. Plus, it's on canisters so it will move easily around the spa as Jen needs.

The seating area will see a plush and cozy area rug with the comfortable soft modern occasional chair and a small side table like the Acklie accent table that comes in so many different finish options! (I LOVE this table!) This glass shade floor lamp is also perfect for adding ambient light and a decorative touch. Just because this spa is going to be more modern doesn't mean it can't also feel cozy!

For retail display and additional storage I'll be using pieces from the North Avenue Collection (surprise, surprise! lol). This collection from The Brick has to be my absolute favourite. It's modern, stylish, small scale and affordable and if it looks familiar that's because I used these pieces in Shop The Skinny's store, in my own office and in my front entry. Can you say obsessed?! lol

To bring in light and reflection into this basement space a large round mirror is definitely necessary. Have you checked out the Oryx yet from The Brick? It's round and brass and so beautiful and would be perfect above the reception desk in this space. Lastly, Jen will be adding a small 32" television to her spa so she can rotate images of her past work, display some information about her services and retail offerings and show rotating monthly specials at her spa.

I am SO excited to see how this space comes together once our pieces from The Brick arrive! I'll definitely be keeping you posted once they do so make sure to stay tuned!
