204 Park House Build: Master Bedroom

Well the countdown is on! We're less than 2 weeks away from moving into our new home and I'm both incredibly excited and also freaking out haha. The past few months have been some of the busiest months I've had in years, not to mention I've been battling a month long illness that just won't quit, which has meant that I haven't spent nearly as much time planning and preparing for the move as I'd normally like to. That being said I do have a rough plan put together for most of our rooms including the bedroom which I thought I'd share with you today.

Mid Century Modern Bedroom

The Plan:

The Bed: James and I went to Calgary a few weeks back to do some furniture shopping and popped into EQ3 to look at some pieces. We saw this Bento bed and I immediately fell in love. James and I are both quite modern and like clean lines. While the bed frame and headboard are much lower than we're used to, I love the simplicity of the frame and the warmth of a fabric covered bed frame. Plus as a bonus, the fabric we loved was not only the base cost fabric but the bed was also majorly on sale- helloooo! The fabric we chose is a lighter grey than this so our room should feel very bright, airy and modern.

Bedding: I'm still in LOVE with my parachute bedding. There's something so cozy about crisp white linens. To add a bit of texture and interest, we'll be using this turkish throw from Plaid Dot to add a little somethin' somethin' to the textiles in the room. Still to be determined are the toss cushions and other textile accents like if we'll put an area rug in the room also.

Bedside Tables: As much as I'd love to get my hands on these mid century modern beauties, unfortunately with all of the other purchases we'll be making, they're just a little bit out of our budget right now. Thankfully, Structube just came out with these guys so we'll be checking them out in person when they arrive in store to see if they'll be a good fit.

Lighting: As I mentioned before, the lighting in this house has been stressin' me! We've picked out this pendant which I love love love, and we'll be purchasing it shortly (for now we have a basic fixture in there). As for our bed side lighting, I'm facing a bit of a conundrum. I adore the globe lamps from Target but getting them to Canada doubles the cost of the lamp by the time you factor in the USD and shipping. I also LOVE these west elm and urban outfitters plug in sconce options but I can't make up my mind so, HELP ME! haha Which would you choose?

Artwork: We haven't finalised our artwork and honestly, I usually spend at least a month in a space before hanging art because sometimes it take a while to get a true feel for a room or decide where you want things. That being said, we have these two posters from Sweden (you can read about them here) that I love so we'll either hang them in our living room or in our bedroom. Option B as of right now is this print from minted, or something similar. Thoughts?

Accessories: Accessories and finishing touches all take time and while we're not in a huge rush we do have our eyes on a few key pieces. I'd like either this mirror from Ikea or this one from Structube to have a full length mirror in the room. We also will want some greenery and I'd love to get another fiddle leaf fig and put it in a gorgeous modernica planter. Other than that, we're going to accessorize slowly and intentionally as we get settled over time.

What do you think of our plan? Any other suggestions for our space?!
