Spring Home Decor

bright beautiful bedroom

Although it's officially been spring for a little while it is only JUST starting to feel like it here in Edmonton. With the seemingly never ending winter, cool temperatures and frosty snowfalls over the past few weeks I have been LONGING for spring! So, since I can't unfortunately control the weather I instead made a few changes indoors to brighten up the house and bring that spring feeling indoors. These are small, simple and affordable ways to add that spring feel to your home. I don't know about you but for me, when my house feels happy and spring like, I feel much happier and at ease then when my home feels dark or cluttered or messy (which don't get me wrong, it is quite often! haha)

Here's a few simple ways to bring the spring, indoors!

Fresh Flowers

It's amazing what a difference bringing in fresh flowers makes. TBH I don't even get too fussy about trying to find expensive or elaborate floral arrangements either. While those are always a lovely treat and surprise, 9 times out of 10 I am all about the grocery store flowers. Tip: place smaller arrangements in your fridge overnight to extend the life of your flowers. Oh, and tulips and carnations are my faves for affordable flowers that last a long time! (Buy your tulips as close to closed as you can, they'll last the longest!) If fresh isn't your style or budget, you can always pick up faux blossoms which look fabulous in large vases and add great texture and drama to any styled vignette!

Greenery

No matter the time of year, greenery is always a good idea (IMO) but especially in the spring when you want to bring touches of nature indoors and freshen up your space, greenery is an absolute MUST! I am not kidding when I tell you that I deliberately have touches of greenery in every single room of our house. Whenever possible, real plants are great but if you're not a green thumb, or if your space doesn't have adequate lighting, go to town with faux greenery! There are so many more realistic options for faux greenery now that you can have faux greenery that looks fabulous!

Lighter Woods and Finishes

Another simple way to bring in that fresh spring feel to your home is through the use of lighter woods and finishes. Think lighter wooden finishes either with larger furniture pieces or smaller accents like your picture frames or little accessories or beads. Pastels and softer hues are great for accents and accessories like vases. Soften your decor palette and think soft, pretty and fresh with accessories for a simple spring decor refresh! Have fun with color, soft sage-y greens are also very on trend this spring so don't be afraid to pick up a few accent pieces and rotate them out for the spring season!
