Amazing furniture, exposed brick walls, tons of character, and design accents to make you swoon.
Oh... and it’s great for selfies!
The Sydney, Austraila hotel is named for the year that Kodak released its first camera and is "apparently… the world’s first Instagram hotel". Sound quirky? It is!
Guests check in and snap a photo in the “Selfie Space”. Obviously, they hashtag it #hotel1888. The best pics are entered into a monthly photo contest and can even win their photographer a night's stay in one of the fabulously appointed rooms. Of course, if you're a social media maven with more than 10,000 instagram followers you'll get a free night's stay anyway.
Insta heaven aside, the design of this hotel is what dreams are made of. Common areas feature exposed wood beams and brick walls, cozy looking button-tufted leather sofas, and modern accents with pops of colour. My idea of design perfection.
Lobby Love at the Hotel 1888
Rooms at the 1888 are simplified but equally perfect. The clean design makes smaller spaces and lofts alike feel open and fresh. I love the overdyed rugs, high ceilings, brick walls and vibrant accents. Purple and blue tones seem to be faves.
