What to Read: September

In my continuous efforts to make more "me time" and read more, I thought I'd share some of the books that have caught my eye this month. September always brings those 'back to school' feelings for me so seeing as we're now officially in September (how in the actual eff did that happen?! haha)  I thought it would be the perfect time to share what I'm hoping I'll be reading. Some of these I've read, some I've just started and others have piqued my interest and have made their way onto my ever growing 'to read' list. Have you read any of these? Leave me some more book suggestions in the comments below!

The Universe Has your Back

Oh, self-help books! Some people love them, some can’t stand them. I really do trust in the goodness of the universe, so this book falling into my lap felt a little bit like a sign. A gift from Poppy Barley X LuluLemonYEG, I am really looking forward to Bernstein’s guidance on happiness, certainty, and  spreading love.

Fierce Kingdom

I feel like everyone and their sister is reading or has just finished this book! And the reviews all sound great! I borrowed this book from a gf and feel pretty good about it being my first fall read. Set in a zoo, a mother’s worst nightmare comes to life as she must protect her child at costs.

The Glass Castle

What’s that rule? Always read the book before you see the movie?? This memoir just hit the big screen a few weeks ago and I can’t wait to see it. I read the book years ago and remember laughing and crying my way through the author’s story of her dysfunctional upbringing and coming-of-age tales.

Hunger

I’ve juuust started reading this one and I know it won’t disappoint. One thing I’ve come to love about social media are the meaningful and completely vulnerable conversations us women are having. Roxane’s book feels just like one of those tough, real convos you sometimes need to have about self-care & accepting your body!

Chasing Slow

I don’t even know where to begin about Erin’s book! If you don’t read her blog, you NEED to!!! She is a true inspiration in every sense of the word - as a blogger, writer, mother,  influencer, creative, person - and I cannot wait to get lost in the pages of this read.

The Alice Network

This book was the #RWbookclub pick in July and I can definitely see why. Sometimes historical fictions can be a little slow but I like the promising storyline of two heroines' lives, spanning two World Wars then completely colliding.

Alias Grace

Did you read The Handmaid’s Tale (it was on my summer #ReadtheNorth list ...)?! I heard the TV series was so intense!!! I’ve added some more Margaret Atwood drama to my pile, and this time there’s a convicted murderess with a blank memory and so much mystery!

Missing, Presumed

One of last summer’s biggest whodunits that I’m finally making time for! Seriously! The synopsis alone won me over and I kinda hope it keeps me guessing right to the end.

Copycat

I’m kinda worried this one is going to keep me up at night but it sounds really good. I know I just mentioned how awesome the internet can be sometimes but this psychological thriller makes me take that all back haha! A woman discovers an active copycat Facebook account and the creepiness begins ...

The Future She Left Behind

Okay, if I had one more summer getaway planned, this book would be at the top of my beach bag. Small town family drama, second chances, and a woman coming into her own!
