Let's Talk: Microdermabrasion

Today I wanted to talk a bit about my microdermabrasion experience with Bella Casa Day Spa. You might remember that for the past few months I've been dealing with some pesky skin issues I've never had before. Our long and dry winter was wreaking havoc on my skin causing major dryness and rough texture in a few areas. As someone who has never had to deal with these issues before it was a bit of a struggle trying to figure out what to do, no matter how often I tried to exfoliate or what moisturizer I used, nothing seemed to help until I chatted with Jen.

It was Jen who initially suggested I check out Deciem and The Ordinary (you can read my review of the products I've been using HERE) and then suggested that microdermabrasion might be helpful for dealing with my issue.

Microdermabrasion has been a beauty staple for many years because there are so many benefits with essentially no down time. Microdermabrasion is a treatment that helps exfoliate, illuminate and oxygenate the skin. The removal of the dead and dull skin cells also helps to increase collagen production and we all know that collagen is king when it comes to youthful and healthy looking skin! Microdermabrasion can work wonders in helping with skin tone and evening out texture or pigment irregularities, pore size, fine lines and wrinkles and scarring.  I had a one time treatment which in conjunction with my new skincare regime has worked really well for me in dealing with my concerns. Like many treatments, for longer term results or for peskier problems a few treatments will probably be necessary but in comparison to other treatments there are lots of benefits to microdermabrasion.

What else is there to love about microdermabrasion...

- It's actually quite relaxing! The treatment itself wasn't painful at all and in fact, I really liked the feeling of the exfoliation

- The treatment also takes less than an hour so it's not overly time consuming

- There's little to no downtime with microdermabrasion; I was a little bit red the afternoon of my treatment but that was it! By the following day my skin looked great and refreshed

- Compared to many other treatments it's quite affordable in comparison (you can check out Jen's pricing here)

If you're looking for a skincare treatment to help freshen up your skin I'd highly suggest a relaxing microdermabrasion facial with Jen! As we move into summer, now's a great time to deeply exfoliate and head into summer with your fresh face forward! ;)

Have you ever had microdermabrasion? Did you notice a difference in your skincare?

Also, if you're in the Edmonton area I can't recommend Jen enough! I go to Jen for my nails, eyebrows (read about my microblading experience here) and other aesthetic needs and I just adore her and her beautiful space! (But then again, I did help with the redesign, so I may be a bit biased! ;) )
